Helen and Ali who form the unique jazz and folk
trio,
Three Piece Suite, perform concerts all over the
West Country and further afield to delighted audiences.
Combining their skills of classical guitar, jazz piano and
folk fiddle, plus vocal harmonies, their repertoire ranges
from classical interpretations of Concerto de Aranjuez,
wild and earthy and soul searching folk melodies and songs,
through to the jazz favourites of Gershwin, Cole Porter,
Hoagy Carmichel and Louis Armstrong. Presented in their
inimitable full-of-fun style,

virtuosic evening of music to appeal to everyone!

John Hooper Jazz Pianist
John Hooper is an outstanding
jazz pianist with superb technique with over 30 television
and 200 Radio Broadcasts to his credit. He was the founder
pianist with Bristol’s legendary Blue Note Jazz Band and
later formed a jazz trio often featuring Bristol’s dynamic
jazz singer, Kate McNabb. The trio had a regular Radio Two
slot, “You & The Night & The Music”. John has
played concerts across Europe, at the Albert Hall, the
Berlin Philharmonic Hall and has performed with Acker Bilk
and the Blue Notes at Bristol’s Colston Hall. He has also
had the privilege of performing with some of America’s Jazz
greats.
Helen James Classical Guitarist
Classical guitarist Helen James
combines a pure classical tone with the lightness and
freedom of folk music and the energy of flamenco. Trained
at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Helen James has a
wealth of experience performing both classical guitar and
folk music either as a soloist or in small ensembles, in
concerts, playing for private functions, arts centres and
music festivals. Helen is an accomplished singer with a
smooth and pure vocal tone which she adapts for folk and
jazz styles. Helen composes music, both songs and
instrumentals and runs her own private teaching practice
near Bath.
Ali Nourse Fiddler
Ali Nourse, a music teacher in
Bath, has been steeped in folk music since the age of
fourteen and has performed fiddle at many of the UK’s major
folk festivals during her busy musical career. Classically
trained at Dartington College on violin, piano and as a
vocalist, Ali Nourse is an energetic fiddler with raw
energy and dynamism and her heart is with folk music. This
is genuine folk, played from the soul.
